Superb grand cross plaque of the Iron Crown. First Empire era, with Italian legend.
Radiant six-pointed star, bordered in silver threads, bullion, and sequins. Diameter 9 cm.
Round center in gilded metal with matte silver background, featuring the profile of the Emperor facing left, adorned with a laurel crown, surrounded by three Lombard crowns interspersed with finely engraved Eagles, all in gold. Italian legend on a blue enamel background "GOD GAVE IT TO ME - BEWARE WHOEVER TOUCHES IT." Diameter 4 cm.
Paper lining.

Very good condition.
NOTE:
Decoration manufactured after the First Empire. It comes from an Italian noble family. It is possible that this plaque was made in the second half of the 19th century, during a period when a number of First Empire decorations were remade under the Second Empire.
