Gilt brass hilt specific to officers in its design, with four branches forming a shell decorated with the Arms of France under a royal crown, set against a background of flags and oak and laurel branches. The main branch is adorned in relief with oak leaves, while the three secondary branches feature laurel leaves at their upper part. Specific to senior officers, the pommel is richly decorated in relief with foliage, palmettes, acanthus leaves, and a top with gadroon decoration. The wooden grip is covered with gray shagreen filigreed in silver. Gilt brass ferrule decorated with a fine line.
Curved blade with double hollow grooves richly decorated on its half. On the obverse side, the ricasso is gilt and engraved with "Coulaux Frères", topped with a rich decoration of engraved and gilt foliage on a blue background, a white cartouche inscribed "KING'S GUARD", a military trophy, and a second fleur-de-lis with foliage scrolls. The reverse side has a gilt ricasso engraved "Manufre du Klingenthal", with military trophies in gold on blue background above, followed by the Arms of France and a sun face on a radiating background. Length 93 cm.
Steel scabbard with two steel suspension rings and a brass molded chape at the scabbard entrance. Brass chape screw.
