A banner composed of a black waxed calfskin cover closing with seventeen gilt metal buttons stamped with the number "4". Wooden box covered with black basane, lined with black velvet at the back. Black varnished leather strap, H 8 cm, width at the top 14.2 cm, width at the bottom 16 cm; bordered with a gilt brass framing strip, in the center an uncrowned imperial eagle in gilded embossed brass is affixed. It is covered with a black waxed leather giberne cover.

HISTORY:
During the Second Empire, the regiment led a quiet garrison life.
In 1870, it took part in the battles of the Army of the Loire.
During the Paris Commune in 1871, the regiment participated with the Versailles army in the bloody week. In 1880, the regiment was stationed in Chambéry, in the district of the chevau-légers, between the Carré Curial and the cliff at the foot of the Saint-Martin cliff.
