BELT PLATE OF AN OFFICER OF THE GRENADIERS OR CHASSEURS À PIED OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, model 1804, First Empire modified 1814, First Restoration. 29180
Rectangular in shape with rounded left and right sides. The plate is made of cast brass with all decorations and background entirely chiseled and then gilded.
In the center, there is an eagle turning its head to the left, removed in 1814, perched on a spindle from which lightning bolts emerge. The eagle is topped with an imperial crown and surrounded by a laurel branch (on the right) and an oak branch (on the left). At the bottom, in the center of the spindle, a star of the Legion of Honor is attached with a ribbon. The background of the plate is finely sandblasted. The plate is bordered by a triple molding. On the back, there is a two-pronged belt loop (one hook is missing) as well as a hook that are soldered.
The back of the plate is simply brushed, lined with a small piece of bleached calfskin.
Height 69.2 mm, width without curvature 89 mm, width with curvature 95 mm.
