BELT PLAQUE FOR AN OFFICER'S SWORD OF THE MARINES OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, First Empire, modified 1814, First Restoration. 29181
Rectangular bronze cast, chiseled, and gilded plaque. It depicts, on a sandblasted background, a naval anchor with a crowned imperial eagle that was removed in 1814. On each side, there is a representation of an oak branch and a laurel branch against a backdrop of a bundle of flags. The plaque is bordered by a flat and smooth framing molding with a central protruding molding resembling a coiled cable. The reverse side features a hook, buckle, and two prongs.
