Made of cardboard covered with sky blue cloth, bordered on the upper part by a 2.8 cm high braid, woven in the so-called "dé bottom braid" point in silver trim shared by a horizontal silk garance stripe; black varnished leather edge; hunting horn, symbol of the cavalry, in gilded brass, H 3 cm, width 5 cm. Cockade in stamped white iron with a radiant sun, tricolored lacquer, on which is attached a square double-strand braid in silver trim mixed with garance silk, held by a smooth half-spherical gold button. On the sides, ventilation holes in copper-coloured tombac painted to match the cloth color.
Chinstrap with intertwined ring chain composed of brass rings attached to a leather chinstrap; on the sides and back of the headgear, at the level of the braid and edges, three gilded metal lion heads are used to hold the chinstrap; round-shaped visor, top in black varnished leather edged with a gilded brass rim folded over the outer edge, visor width 5 cm; light green waxed leather underside of the visor.
Interior cap in gold-blackened sheepskin cut with six wolf teeth, interior of the cap in ecru silk.
Olive pompom in silver trim mixed with garance silk for the rank of adjutant.
