NOTE: The Duchy of Warsaw (in Polish: Księstwo Warszawskie, in Latin: Ducatus Varsoviæ) was a Polish state created by Emperor Napoleon I in 1807, on territories partially Polish taken from the Kingdom of Prussia during the Treaty of Tilsit. The King of Saxony, Frederick Augustus I, an ally of Napoleon, also became the Duke of Warsaw. In 1809, the duchy received territories taken back from the Austrian Empire. It came to an end in 1813, being occupied by the Russian army following the disaster of the retreat from Russia.
