A handwritten memoir of three half-pages addressed to "Monsieur le Comte de la Rochejaquelin Commanding the horse grenadiers at His Majesty King of France," written in Schwitz, Canton Schwitz, Switzerland, on .. February 1816, signed "Baltasar Niederöst formerly Captain of a Swiss Company in the Vendée under the Reign of Louis XVII."

Detailed description of Baltasar Niederöst's military career, as he makes a pension application for the rank of Captain in this document.
His career began on the 8th of December 1784 in the Reding Company of the Swiss Guards. "In January 1793, he was appointed as a sub-lieutenant in Fontainebleau, and then as a first lieutenant in Philippsville. Having been captured by General Rochejaquelin's army, he pledged allegiance in the Vendée, where he was appointed lieutenant and eventually captain of a Swiss Company by the Chief General Rochejaquelin and General Stofflet.
