Chouannerie - Emigration. LETTER FROM THE EMIGRANT OFFICER FROM MOUILLEBERT* TO THE DUKE OF CHATILLON IN LONDON. 18913-32
Letter with address "Mr. Le Duke of Chatillon - No. 5 King Street - Portman Square - London," concerning the Chouannerie near Fougères. The officer from Mouillebert requests employment from the Duke of Chatillon.
"At the Headquarters of Mr. de Puisay 3 leagues from Fougères"
"Sir,
I take advantage of Mr. de (..)jan's return to inform you of the delight I feel when I can recall myself to your memory. We have traveled quite successfully. I am very pleased to be here. We are with many brave men who fight very well, and there would be even more if we had weapons. We leave for our country tomorrow. I would very much like to arrive there. We have encountered the Blues several times; they did not dare to attack us. One day we arrived in a village, a column of Blues also arrived there by another path, we attacked them and put them to flight. If you have any employment opportunities, please, Mr. Duke, consider employing me with you, as well as my brother who, like me, values greatly, and has served under your command. Be assured, Mr. Duke, that I will never forget the kindnesses with which you have honored me, and that nothing would be more pleasing to me than to be under your orders. Please accept the profound respect with which I am, Mr. Duke. Your very humble and obedient servant.
Signed: De Mouillebert".
