"We, the undersigned, hereby certify to all whom it may concern, that we have granted a full discharge to a certain Jean Petitot, rifleman, known as Petiteau, of the Major Company in the Roll Regiment, born in Vix in the province of Poitou, jurisdiction ..., aged thirty-two years, of the height of five feet three inches, with chestnut hair and eyebrows, grey eyes, nose and mouth [...] who has been satisfied with his pay and clothing and has nothing more to claim from the Regiment.
Done at the camp before Allesandrie in Egypt, on the fourth day of the month of November, one thousand eight hundred and one.
Signed by the recipient "Petiteau" and by the Lieutenant commanding the Company."
