"We, Prince de Rohan, Colonel Owner of a Regiment of Infantry & Hussars bearing our Name, in the Service of His Britannic Majesty, certify that Mr. D'Auray served as a Cadet in my Hussar Regiment during the 1794 campaign, and conducted himself in a manner deserving of the esteem of his superiors and the friendship of his comrades, always setting the greatest example.
In witness whereof, we have issued this pass to which we have affixed the seal of our Arms, that of our said Regiment.
Issued at Amersfoort on the 7th day of the month of January, one thousand seven hundred and ninety-five.
