Émigrés. SIGNED CERTIFICATE BY DE LA CHASTRE FOR JACQUES HECTOR DE DOURDON, Infantry Captain, Billeted in Glain, May 13, 1792. 18913-8
"We, General Officer, commanding the Gentlemen, officers, and other French émigrés in Brabant,
hereby certify that Mr. Chevalier Jacques Hector de Bourdon, Infantry Captain, Knight of the Royal and Military Order of St. Louys, who emigrated since the month of April 1791, presented himself before us on July 1 of the same year to be provisionally enrolled among the loyal subjects who have devoted themselves to the good cause; he declared to us that he intended to serve with the Gentlemen of the province of Auvergne; however, finding himself in Mons on April 29 of last year, he aligned himself under our orders that day, he served before our eyes with the French cavalry who were serving at that time with the army of the King of Hungary and on the 3rd of this month, we deemed it appropriate to attach him specifically to the Company of the King's Cavalry Regiment.
We have nothing but good reports to make of his conduct.
In witness whereof, we issue this certificate to him to be of service and valid for what is necessary.
Done at the billet of Glain on May 13, 1792.
Signed: the Count of la Charte."
H 23.2 cm x 19 cm.
