GREY MUSKETEER HELMET (1st company) OF THE KING'S MILITARY HOUSE, model 1814, Restoration period. 29263

Helmet (depth 16 cm), visor (7 cm), and neck guard in silver-plated copper. Visor and neck guard edged with a brass strip folded over the outer edge (8 mm wide).
Frontal plate in oval shape in gilded brass, width 11.1 cm, height 12.3 cm (11.9 cm without the curve), embossed with the cross of the first company of the Musketeers with fleur-de-lis framing the cross and flames in the corners; the center of the cross is cut out and adorned with an engraved silver plaque.
Two large branches of oak and laurel in gilded brass are attached to the helmet on either side of the frontal plate.
Plume holder in decreasing tubular shape towards the bottom with a round section, height 4.5 cm, engraved with a molding decorated with palmettes.
Crest in gilded brass stamped with flames and lightning bolts coming out of a cornucopia, with, on the front part, an explosive bomb from which flames and lightning bolts emerge, on the body of which the motto of the first company is embossed in relief "QUO RUIT ET LETHUM" (Wherever it rushes, death rushes there too). The crest is attached to the helmet by eight screws on its lower part, which are folded outward and depict a series of tulips. Maximum height 11.5 cm, width at the center of the mask 4.5 cm.
Ornament of the crest in black horsehair with a gilded brass socket, height 10 cm, diameter 6.6 cm.
Mane in the form of a floating tail in black horsehair, adorned in the center with a braid of gilded silver threads. Mane approximately 60 cm in length.
Chin straps, each composed of a gilded brass rosette in the shape of an exploding bomb with flames and lightning bolts, height 10.6 cm, width 6.7 cm; and a chin strap covered with a series of 18 gilded brass scales cut in a scalloped shape alternately in groups of four and three scallops (the second to the last scale is cut in two scallops and the last one is rounded); they are mounted on leather covered with black velvet, apparent length 17 cm, maximum width 5.4 cm, ending in a small gold tassel.
Interior lining in leather and black silk.
Total height 42 cm.

Very good condition, head of the plume holder screw broken, small missing piece in the lining leather of the neck guard.
