CZAPSKA OF TRUMPETTIST OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD LANCERS, model 1856, Second Empire. 26898
Black polished leather skullcap, topped with a 3.5 cm light blue woolen braid. Square front and rear panels (20.5 cm x 20.5 cm) made of cardboard covered in white fabric with light blue wool soutaches. Each corner of the panels is trimmed with brass. The two rear panels each have a white lacquered brass ventilator (1.8 cm in diameter). At the front, a 5 cm diameter tricolor lacquered metal cockade. Front plate of embossed brass depicting a radiant sun with a central "N" topped with the imperial crown, height of the plate 15.5 cm, width approximately 21.5 cm. On either side of the skullcap, two brass lion heads are fastened holding a brass curb chain mounted on a white fabric core. Black polished leather visor with a brass rim folded over the outer edge, 4 cm width at its center (apparent), 1 cm wide rim marked "G74" dated 1869 "69". Interior liner made of black waxed leather cut into wolf tooth pattern with brass eyelets.
Height of the headgear 23 cm.
Willow weeping plume made of light blue rooster feathers with white tip, approximately 32 cm in height. Half-spherical pompon made of yellow woolen thistle, 5.5 cm in diameter mounted on wood with a folded iron rod for attachment.
