PAIR OF LIEUTENANT GENERAL EPAULETS, Restoration period. 29328
These are embroidered with a fringe of gold braids and sequins. The body is embroidered with a design depicting a diamond-shaped geometric pattern bordered by a scalloped frame on a dark blue, almost black wool cloth; its shield is decorated with a scalloped edge shield adorned with two silver metal stars. The fringes are in large matte braids. The outline consists of three turns: one large and two smaller ones.
Uniform button from 1814 (gilt and matte, stamped and embossed with a trophy made up of flags and a shield topped with a fleur-de-lis), fixed at the top of the epaulette body, a strong clasp is placed below, at the corresponding part (this clasp fits into a small pocket sewn on the uniform).
France.
Restoration period (1815-1816).
Very good condition, usual oxidation.
NOTE:
The title of brigadier general is used in place of major general under the Restoration and the July Monarchy, just as the title of lieutenant general replaces that of division general. This title disappeared definitively in 1848.
