Octagonal barrel with thunder then round, marked “C 1856” “MI”, punched in hexagons “M” “L”, length 1.03 m, 1.09 m with the breech tail. Breech tail marked “Mle 1854 T”. Long walnut barrel with stock bearing the reception stamp “M I 1856”, and the factory stamp “CHATELLERAULT”. Percussion plate marked “Mre Imple de Châtellerault”. All iron fittings. Butt plate with the hallmark “3.Gr. » followed by an imperial crown. Nail head stick.
Total length of the rifle 1.43 m.
White buffalo strap of the Imperial Guard model stitched on each side, width 3.5 cm, marked in ink “Garde Impériale 1864”, and a stamp marked in ink “Ais GODILLOT / Paris”.
