Commemorative medal of the 1870-1871 war created by the law of November 9, 1911 awarded to combatants of the 1870-1871 war who proved their presence under the flags, in France or Algeria, between the months of July 1870 and February 1871 inclusive.
In bronze, engraved by Georges Lemaire, obverse presenting the profile of Marianne helmeted in the guise of Mademoiselle Fernande Dubois, artist of the Opéra-comique, reverse bearing the legend “To the defenders of the Fatherland” and the date “1870-1871” . Diameter 3 cm. Silk ribbon with green and black vertical stripes.
Medal accompanied by his diploma.
Printed diploma, H 30 cm, width 21 cm, registered under the number 137083, awarded to soldier Jean Duret in the 3rd grenadier regiment of the Imperial Guard in Paris on August 25, 1912, with stamp of the Chancellery of the Legion of Honor, signed by the Minister of War by ink stamp “A. Millerand”.
