DRUM HELMET OF FIREFIGHTERS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, type plate 1848, Second Republic. 24217
Entirely in brass, bomb with the neck brace (high and leaning backwards) (H approximately 23 cm) topped with a crest composed of two fins comprising a decreasing series of thirteen gadroons, each fin is fixed to the bomb by means of four brass screws on each fin. Crest mask stamped with a flaming bomb with lower part cut out in the shape of a heart. Front plate (width 10 cm, H 13 cm) representing the Gallic rooster model 1848 with outstretched wings holding the terrestrial globe in one of its claws, on a background of a bundle of flags, it surmounts the crest of the city of Paris representing the Scilicet, ship representing the city and symbol of the powerful corporation of Nautes or water merchants, manager of the municipality in the Middle Ages. The crest is framed by an oak branch and a laurel branch, the edge of the plaque is in the shape of a ribbon bearing the inscription “SAPEURS-POMPIERS DE LA VILLE DE PARIS”. Mobile visor stamped with two crossed axes. Neck cover edged with a horse-folded rush, registered “93”. Chinstraps composed of leather chin straps covered with a one-piece plate stamped with a series of scalloped scales as well as a round gadrooned rosette. Chin straps finished with a brass hook and a brass lock. Each chin guard is attached to the bomb at the level of the rosettes by a round-headed steel screw. Scarlet hair caterpillar protruding at the front of the crest by approximately 9 cm.

Good condition, a few dents on the right side of the bomb, leather from the chin straps partly missing, missing interior cap, one of the chin strap screws was replaced with a period screw but made of iron.
