HELMET FIRE TROOP OF THE COMMUNE OF VANLAY, type 1855 modified 1872, Third Republic. 24242

Entirely in brass, crest stamped with eleven gadroons, front plate struck in relief with a shield stamped with a flaming bomb. This shield is on a sandblasted base plate with laurel branches and crossed axes. Ribbon bearing the inscription “Srs POMPIERS DE VANLAY”. Visor and neck cover surrounded by a folded brass bangle astride the outer edge. Chinstraps composed of a soft leather chin strap covered in black waxed leather covered with a series of decreasing scales cut alternately into two and three festoons, round rosettes stamped with circular moldings. Tubular plume holder with square section decreasing downwards. Inner cap in black waxed leather cut with seven wolf teeth.
