CAVALRY OFFICER'S GIBERNA, model 1852, Second Empire. 26975
Giberne whose description is included in the Official Journal of November 20, 1858 for cavalry officers of all ranks: dragoons, lancers, hunters and hussars.
Wooden box covered with scarlet sheepskin, lined at the back with black patent leather. Gilded brass sides with hanging hook at the top. Patent black patent leather strap edged with a gilded brass framing ring, in the center is stapled a crowned imperial eagle in gilded stamped brass, H 9.5 cm, width 14.2 cm at the top, width at the bottom 15 .5 cm.
Bleached buffalo banner, stitched on the edges, with gilded brass trim, width 5 cm. On the front, a lion's head holding in its mouth a ring to which are attached three curb chains ending in a pin, with in the lower part an escutcheon decorated with the crowned imperial eagle. Back decorated with a rectangular buckle, a brass slide and a fleuron.
