Pelisse in fine black cloth, decorated on the chest with five frogs on each front made of four strands of square braid in black goat hair, describing parallel and slightly arched lines. Closing on the front using olives covered with milan point, the toggles end in double twisted clovers. At hip level, spike formed by a soubise braid, interior trimmed with curly black astrakhan fur, like all those on the tunic. At hip level, two straight pockets. Seams on the back of the tunic designed by three soubise braids, embossed in goat hair. Upper back decorated with a so-called “butterfly” pattern in goat hair soutache. Handle with spearhead-shaped pike edged with soubise braid, interior lined with black woolen cloth, without grade soutaches. Collar with a folded-down shape known as Saxony, entirely trimmed with curly black astrakhan fur. With its so-called “fodder” cord.
Lining in quilted black Chinese satin canvas.

The wearing of this pelisse will be extended to mounted infantry officers in 1889, then to all infantry officers after 1894.
