KEPI OF A LIEUTENANT OF CHASSEURS À CHEVAL, model 1868, Second Empire, modified Third Republic. 29088
Sky blue cloth headband, H 3 cm. Headdress and cap in madder cloth with silver braids, two horizontals identifying the rank, one vertical on the four sides, and two on the cap forming a Hungarian knot (cap framed by a flat silver braid). Square visor in black patent leather lined with green morocco, trimmed with a black lacquered calfskin band folded astride the outer edge. False chin strap in silver braid held on the headband by two silver metal bell buttons. Headdress interior composed of an iron-gilded black patent leather headband topped with a black satin cap. Bottom of the cap lined with gold-gilded scarlet waxed calfskin “MILITARY EQUIPMENT / PEYROT AINÉ / 47 Rue de Lyon / LYON”.
At the front of the headband, the numbers “1” and “6” in silver metal were fixed, during the transition to the 16th regiment of horse hunters under the Third Republic.
Presented in its white cardboard box covered with brown paper with black printed paper label from Établissements Peyrot Ainé, similar to the marking of the kepi.

Good condition, headband with a few moth holes, remains of the kepi in very good condition. Worn shipping box with some accidents at the top of the box.
