OFFICER'S HAIR CAP PLATE OF THE 2nd COMPANY OF GRENADIERS OF THE FRENCH GUARDS, circa 1770-1780, Former Monarchy. 28861
In gilded brass stamped in relief, bordered by a double smooth protruding molding with a palmette at the top. Rich decoration representing a shield stamped with three fleurs-de-lis surmounted by the royal crown framed by a palm leaf on each side. A flaming bomb in each of the two lower angles, the right angle is stamped with “n°”, the left angle with the number “2”.
The edges are folded on themselves on the inside, reinforced with steel wire. It is pierced at the bottom with two small holes in each corner, two in its center and, at its top, the steel wire forms a loop for attachment to the cap.
H 15.5 cm, width with curvature 22.5 cm and without curvature 19 cm.
On each side two strips of smooth gilded brass are fixed by articulated hinges. The two rear bands attach together with a small golden brass lock.
