UNIFORM OF THE 1st LANCER REGIMENT, Second Empire. 26940

CZAPSKA of the 1st regiment, model 1858.
One-piece black patent leather bomb, assembled on the front by a seam with joined edges and large overlocked stitches, H at the front 11 cm, H at the back 12.5 cm. Cardboard pavilion of 14 sheets of laid paper, cylindrical and made waterproof, to which a gray percaline is glued. The pavilion is made up of four pieces cut into a trapezoid, 21 cm wide at the top and 9 cm at the bottom. The four pieces are assembled by their concavity and this assembly is supported internally by a strong rod of rush. The pavilion is surmounted by a square imperial with a side of 21.5 cm. The pavilion is covered in a dark blue canvas, all the edges are decorated with a 3 mm wide daffodil wool soutache. At its base, a 3.5 cm wide “cul-de-dé” daffodil wool braid is sewn. The two rear roofs are decorated with a ventilation suction cup in dark blue lacquered steel, diameter 2 cm, the right front roof is garnished with a metal roundel stamped in the shape of a tricolor lacquered radiating sun, diameter 5 cm. The corners of the pavilions are decorated with four brass corners. Visor in black patent leather, lined with a 1.6 cm wide brass band, folded astride the outer edge and fixed at both ends by a brass screw. Brass front plate stamped with a radiant sun, half-elliptical shape, H 15.3 cm, width 21 cm. At the bottom the number “1” is stamped on a plain background.
Brass chain in the shape of a curb chain, ending on one side with a brass hook, length 49 cm, width 1.5 cm, mounted on a madder sheet with brass eyelets for the passage of the lace holding the chain. Stamped brass rosettes in the shape of a lion's head, H 3.7 cm, which holds the suspension hook in its mouth. Inner headdress in dark brown waxed sheepskin cut into eight wolf teeth on the rear part, the front part is in the form of a headband.
Total height of hairstyle 24 cm.
Half-spherical pompom (diameter 5 cm) with archal wire stem, placed at the upper part and curved so that the pompom rests entirely on the pavilion without overflowing it. The pompom is crimson wool thistle for the 2nd squadron.
Scarlet horsehair egret; at the base a shell, in the shape of an inverted cone, in wool of the color assigned to the squadron; from its tip emerges a double rod made of strong iron wire. Apparent length of horsehair 25 cm. Length of the shell base 5 cm. Diameter of this base from which the horsehair escapes 3.5 cm.
Good condition, some wear to the soutaches and braid, wear and cut sheet on the end of one side of the imperial, interior cap worn.

HABIT "KURTKA" of the 1st regiment.
Entirely in dark blue cloth with daffodil piping. It closes straight at the front with seven bone buttons. A dark blue cloth plaston on one side and daffodil on the other, is attached to the front of the kurtka using seven uniform buttons on either side. Half-spherical pewter buttons stamped with the number “1”. Dark blue piped daffodil cloth collar. Facings in dark blue cloth piped with daffodil peak; each with two small module uniform buttons stamped with the number “1”. Lapels of daffodil cloth basques trimmed with six uniform buttons. Belt tab in dark blue piped daffodil cloth with small module uniform button. Back and sleeve seams with daffodil soutache. Blue cloth shoulder pads with daffodil braid.
Lining in ecru canvas, registered in ink “3912”, dated 3rd quarter 1860 “3rd. 60”, assigned to the 1st regiment “1r.R.de.Lrs”.
Pair of epaulettes in white trimmings lined with dark blue cloth registered in red ink attached to the “3912” coat, small module uniform button.
Very good state.

COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL OF THE ITALIAN CAMPAIGN, created in 1859
Round in shape, in silver, engraving by Barre, representing on the obverse the effigy of the Emperor crowned with laurel, framed by the legend “NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR” and bordered by a laurel wreath. On the reverse, inscription “ITALY CAMPAIGN - 1859” framing the name of the battles of “MONTEBELLO, PALESTRO, TURBIGO, MAGENTA, MARIGNAN, SOLFERINO”. Diameter 3 cm.
Scarlet ribbon with white stripes.
Very good.

SNOWSHOE CORD.
In white wool, cord folded in two 2.70 m long, ending with two rackets with pompoms 24 cm long.

BELT model of October 7, 1845 taken up by the regulations of December 20, 1858
In plain white buffalo without any rush or stitching, it consists of a belt strip, width 6 cm; length 80 cm. The ends are cut squarely. The one in front, the strong side of the buffalo, is passed double through the opening of a copper yoke, where it is stopped by a bar called a movable lock on the yoke and which allows the strip of belt, without any barb and by the sole pressure of the lock. The end of the strip is folded back about 2.5 cm and sewn to form a bead which prevents it from coming out of the screed. The other end of the strip is also passed twice through the trigger guard of the plate. Near the front end at 20 cm (3rd size), is a first seam 3.5 cm wide and occupying the entire width of the strip, inside which it is sewn, by two seams at the top and by two others at the bottom. bottom, a second is sewn at 39 cm. It supports the copper D which carries the front bail; it is folded below 3 cm after having embraced the D which in its upper part is flush with the bottom of the band. This D has a width of 5 cm and a height of 2 cm. It is approximately 5 mm thick and carries a saber hook of the same brass wire. Length of the hook frame 4 cm, the same of the spout 5 cm. The small bail, length 32 cm, width 3.5 cm. It has 2 buttonholes at each end 5 cm apart. Double copper buttons (diameter 1.5 cm) engage in these buttonholes two by two to attach the bails to the belt and the sabre. The belt is hot stamped on the inside with the number “3747”.
Slightly curved copper plate, stamped in relief with four crossed spears. It is almost square, with cut sides and softened chamfered edges. Towards its right edge, looking at it from the inside, a strong copper trigger guard is welded, and on the other edge a clip reused at its base marked “DELACHAUSSÉE”. This clip fills the entire length of the clip D attached to the other end of the strip. Height 7.5 cm, width 9 cm, with cut corners.
