POLICE HAT OF THE SMALL STAFF OF THE 2nd CUIRASIER REGIMENT OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, with gusset, type 1860, Second Empire (1855-1865). 27055
Hat body in dark blue cloth with scarlet cloth piping placed on the vertical seams and on the middle of the faces. These pipings come together on the right side to form a point whose apex reaches the bottom of the hat.
Two side flaps of elliptical shape, in dark blue cloth, bordered on their convex development with scarlet cloth piping and white braid; these two pieces sewn at the bottom of the cap and connecting together at each end by a seam, folding down as desired.
On the front, in the curvilinear angle drawn by the recess of the two flaps, a pomegranate is sewn embroidered in white cotton thread on a dark blue cloth background.
At the front corner of the peak of the cap, a tassel in white wool trimmings with white cabochon identifying the small staff is attached.
Interior cap entirely in ecru canvas marked in ink with two stamps, one dfor the date 1864 “2E 64” and the number “3741”.
