BANDEROLL
In white buffalo, 8 cm wide. It is split at each end into two strips 4 cm wide over a length of 20 cm on the strong side of the buffalo and 1.10 m on the weak side.
Each small 20 cm strip has an oval brass buckle at the top, a brass slider and a small brass fleuron at the bottom. The upper band supports the pouch, the lower one, a 13 cm iron carabiner holder with its buffalo strap with brass buckle and buffalo loop.
25 mm above the large slot is the head of a buttonhole which receives a double brass button, from which a pin hangs outside. Above the buffalowork, a buffalo baguette strap (length 91 cm, width 15 mm) pierced with a buttonhole at each end is buttoned with this same button.
In the middle of the gap which separates the two slots of the pouch holder is sewn a small tab which attaches, among the hussars, to a small button sewn for this purpose on the left shoulder of the dolman and the pelisse.
The carabiner holder is reeled in a transverse roller clevis; it is trimmed with a small buffalo strap.
GIBERNE
Box in stretched, blackened and waxed cowhide, bent at right angles with rectilinear edges, and forming the front, bottom and back of the box. The sides are made of brass, rectangular in shape, with slightly rounded corners, width 5 cm, height 8.5 cm. 2 cm from this upper edge and in the middle is the center of a hole through which a copper pin passes, with a round head, flattened on the outside and stopped on the inside by a nut, which is housed in a recess made in the base Of wood. To this pin is attached the eye of a copper wire yoke, approximately semi-circular in shape from below. In the direction of this diameter a copper bar, 3 mm thick, crosses the two branches and is firmly riveted there, it is wrapped in a welded copper roller; a similar roller bar is riveted parallel below the first, so as to leave 1 cm of space between the two rollers. Inside the box, two cowhide partitions divide it into three compartments, two of which are large for cartridges, and a small one in the middle to accommodate the essentials and the bullet puller.
The capsule bag is made of small blackened cowhide, with an interior collar of sheepskin trimmed with its hair. Its opening is covered by a small flap on which a button is attached to stop a small counter-strap, sewn onto the bag.
A martingale, made of small blackened cow, is fitted to the back of the box using a copper button. It is used to attach the pouch to clothing using a buttonhole.
The folded tab is also in cowhide, it is at right angles on the back and slightly obtuse on the front, height 10.5 cm, width at the top 21 cm, width at the bottom 21.5 cm. Behind, a 2.5 cm flap assembles the tab with the box using two seams. Under the tab is sewn a counter-strap pierced with a buttonhole which attaches to a copper grooved button, riveted under the bottom of the box. it is hot dated “1861”, registered “368” with name of manufacture «BAUDOUIN», marked with the 3rd hussar regiment “3H”.
