One-piece black patent leather bomb, assembled on the front by a seam with joined edges and large overlocked stitches, H at the front 10.5 cm, H at the back 12 cm.
The bomb is topped with a cardboard pavilion made of 14 sheets of laid paper, cylindrical and made waterproof, to which a gray percaline is glued. The pavilion is made up of four pieces cut into a trapezoid, 21 cm wide at the top and 8.5 cm at the bottom. The four pieces are assembled by their concavity and this assembly is supported internally by a strong rod of rush. The pavilion is surmounted by a square imperial measuring 21 cm on each side. The pavilion is covered in a dark blue canvas, all the edges are decorated with a 3 mm wide madder wool soutache. At its base, a 3.5 cm wide “cul de dé” madder wool braid is sewn. The two rear roofs are decorated with a ventilation suction cup in dark blue lacquered steel, diameter 2 cm, the right front roof is garnished with a metal roundel stamped in the shape of a tricolor lacquered radiating sun, diameter 5 cm. The corners of the pavilions are decorated with four brass corners.
Visor in black patent leather, lined with a 1.6 cm wide brass band, folded astride the outer edge and fixed at both ends by a brass screw.
Brass front plate stamped with a radiant sun, half-elliptical shape, H 15.3 cm, width 21 cm. At the bottom the number “8” is stamped on a plain background.
Brass chain in the shape of a curb chain, length 44 cm, width 2 cm, mounted on a madder sheet with brass eyelets for lacing the chain. Stamped brass rosettes in the shape of a lion's head, H 3.7 cm, which holds the suspension hook in its mouth.
Inner headdress in dark brown waxed sheepskin cut into six wolf teeth on the rear part, the front part is in the form of a headband. White paper label printed in blue “GOUÉRY, CANAT & Cie À PARIS” and size 5.1/2.

Egret in drooping scarlet horsehair, so-called “shell” pompom woven in blue wool for the 1st squadron.
Half-spherical pompom in dark blue wool thistle for the 1st squadron.
