KEPI OF A SECOND LIEUTENANT OF THE 1st HUSSARD REGIMENT, circa 1860-1866, Second Empire. 27016
Sky blue cloth headband, H 3 cm, decorated at the front with a silver braid forming a horizontal Hungarian knot (knot width 20.5 cm). Headdress and cap in madder cloth with silver braids, one identifying the rank, one vertical on the four sides, and one on the cap forming a Hungarian knot (cap framed by a silver braid).
Square visor in black patent leather lined with dark green morocco, trimmed with a black lacquered calfskin band folded astride the outer edge. Interior headdress in black satin, interior headband in black patent leather with iron on the upper edge.

From the model of October 5, 1868, this kepi was generalized to all hussar regiments regardless of the color of the dolman.
