BICORNED HAT OF A DIVISIONAL GENERAL HAVING A HIGHER COMMAND, model 1872, Third Republic. 27205
In black “Flemish” felt highlighted with a large gold braid called “general's edge” (width 7.5 cm), scalloped at the crest, woven with a double oak branch with its fruits; a curly white ostrich feather is sewn inside both edges; braid formed of three twists in matte gold, redoubling around a large module gold uniform button for general officer model 1872 (half-curved, burnished and matte gold, stamped in relief with a trophy formed of flags and 'a shield stamped with a star, surmounted by a civic crown), tricolor cockade 7.5 cm in diameter.
Inner headdress in ivory silk marked in gold “CAROULLE & HÉBERT-BRICARD / E. BIDAL / Successor. / 3. Rue Richelieu. PARIS” and the initials of General “P. D.”. Ocher calfskin headband. Complete with its two mother-of-pearl buttons sewn at the top of the interior cap.
Length 44.5 cm - Width 16 cm - H in the right part 10 cm, 13.5 cm in the left part.
