Background fabric in madder cloth with six gold braids (small flat braids), at the base band in black cloth. Half-bell buttons in gilded brass. False chinstrap in gold trimmings. Visor in black patent leather and black waxed on the underside.
Inner headdress in dark blue silk with iron-plated black patent calfskin headband.
France.
Second Empire.
Good condition, slightly sunburned, a few moth holes, interior headdress and headband changed later.
