KÉPI “SCARF” OF A DIVISION GENERAL IN HIGH COMMAND, circa 1890, Third Republic. 27169
Hairstyle called “Scarf”. Headband in black cloth entirely embroidered with a double course of oak leaves and bordered in its upper part with a wand of golden sequins and cannetilles, a cord of golden threads and a silver soutache indicating a higher command, in its lower part, at the level of the visor, golden braid. H of headband 6.6 cm. Turban and cap in madder cloth decorated with golden braids, the cap has in its center a Hungarian knot drawn by four small golden braids. H of the headband 4 cm at the front, 6 cm at the back.
Visor in black waxed and patent leather, lined with black embossed morocco, and trimmed with a black lacquered calfskin band folded astride the outer edge.
Black satin inner cap. Interior headband in black gold waxed calfskin with the manufacturer's name "E. Bidal / 3 RUE DE RICHELIEU / PARIS".
Head circumference approximately 58 cm.
