POLICE HAT TROOP DU 4th REGIMENT OF VOLTIGEURS OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, 1860 “gusset” model, Second Empire. 26889
Hat body in scarlet cloth with daffodil piping placed on the vertical seams and on the middle of the faces. These pipings come together on the right side to form a point whose apex reaches the bottom of the hat.
Two side flaps of elliptical shape, in dark blue cloth, bordered on their convex development with braid and piping in daffodil cloth; these two pieces are sewn to the bottom of the hat and are connected together at each end by a seam, folding down as desired. The flaps are sewn and attached to the body at the top using a black lacquered metal clip.
On the front, in the curvilinear angle formed by the recess of the two flaps, an embroidered pomegranate in daffodil wool is sewn (H 4.4 cm, width 2.7 cm). Interior headdress entirely in ecru canvas dated 2nd quarter 1870 “2*70”, registered “1623” and the stamp of the 4th Voltigeurs regiment: crown followed by “4e V”. H of flaps 11.5 cm. Total height 14 cm.
At the top of the front point, wool pompom with green head of the 4th regiment and daffodil fringes.
