BICORNED HAT OF SAPEURS OR MASTER WORKERS OF THE VOLTIGER OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, model 1854, Second Empire. 26861
Taupe felt hat, H at the front 11.5 cm, H at the back 17.5 cm, length 48.5 cm, width 17 cm, bordered with a black silk braid folded astride the outer edges of the hat, apparent width 3.4 cm. Daffodil braid braid, 4.2 cm wide, piped in the center with black wool attached to the hat by means of a half-spherical brass uniform button stamped with the imperial eagle with the inscription “IMPERIAL GUARD”. Four straps in golden yellow wool braid garnish the front of the hat and two garnish the rear part, width of the straps 1.2 cm. Cockade in tricolor trimmings, diameter 7.5 cm. Inner headdress with black waxed headband and black canvas with black printed white paper label "JOSEPH / hatter worker / Military, / Boulevard de l'Observatoire N° 11 / MONTPELLIER". Headdress dated in white ink “1870” and registered “2067”.
A pompom from the 3rd Foot Grenadier Regiment of the Guard is attached.

Good condition, small wear on the strap, rubbing on the cockade, worn interior cap, leather headband with two losses.
NOTE :
The Guard voltigeurs' hat was only issued from 1860 to adjutants, deputy bandmasters, drum corporals, sappers and master workers.
