Cap and turban in madder cloth, headband in black cloth, sloping shape, five braids and soutaches in flat braids in trimmings of gilded silver thread, model before 1883. On each side in the upper part a lacquered brass madder aerator is fixed. Cap decorated with a three-strand Hungarian knot specific to senior officers. Regimental number embroidered in gilded silver cannetille directly on the headband. False chin strap in gold trimmings held by two small module buttons stamped with the flaming bomb. Rounded visor in strong patent and blackened leather, under visor lined with fine dark green waxed morocco, lacquered and blackened calfskin rush sewn as saddle. Inner headdress composed of a headband in soft dark brown rectified leather bordered with an iron-gilded frieze, and a headdress in satin black fabric, lined cap covered with red leather, gold-plated with the name of a hatter “Bert & Ruettary / 47. Rue de la République / LYON” and the initial “L” of the owner.
