HUSSARD SHAKO, model 1874, Third Republic. 27165

Leather carcass marked in ink by the manufacturer “GODILLOT” and size “51”. It is sheathed in a sleeve of dark sky blue cloth. Cap and bourdalou in black patent leather. “Cul de dé” woven braid in white wool H 2.8 cm. Tricolor metal cockade attached to the barrel by means of a half-spherical brass button and a white wool braid. At the front of the shako a white braid soutache forms a Hungarian knot arranged horizontally. On each side of the barrel in the upper part, a sky blue lacquered brass aerator is fixed and in the lower part a brass lion's head intended to attach the chin strap. At the back at the top, a third brass lion's head. Visor in black waxed leather lined with black leather and bordered with a brass band. Inner headdress composed of a black waxed leather headband cut with six wolf teeth. Curb chinstrap composed of intertwined brass rings attached to a black patent leather chin strap.
