POLICE HAT TROOP OF GUIDES OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, model 1860, Second Empire. 27086
Hat body in madder cloth with golden yellow braid piping placed on the vertical seams and in the middle of the sides. These pipings come together on the right side to form a point whose apex reaches the bottom of the hat ending with a golden yellow wool fringed pompom. Two elliptical-shaped side flaps, in dark green cloth piped with madder and highlighted with a golden yellow soutache; these two flaps attach to the hat, in the upper part in the middle by means of a ring and a black lacquered metal hook, H 8.5 cm on the right and H 11 cm on the left.
On the front and back, in the curvilinear angle drawn by the recess of the two flaps, the soutache is sewn in the shape of a Hungarian knot. Interior cap in ecru canvas numbered “3649” and dated 3rd quarter 1862 “3e.62”.
Total height of the hat 14.7 cm.

BIOGRAPHY :
This cap was attributed to François CARRON, domiciled in Bassens, canton of Chambéry in the department of Savoie born March 7, 1836, profession peasant. Incorporated into the regiment on July 10, 1860 as a brigadier from the Sardinian army, arriving in the corps on July 10, 1860.
Enlisted in the provincial capital, levy of 1857, n° 191 of the draw, canton of Bassens on November 10, 1857. Soldier in the Aosta Lancers Regiment on January 11, 1858. Decorated with the military medal on January 12, 1860, appointed brigadier on February 10, 1860.
He participated in the Italian campaign of 1859 and received the Italian medal on November 10, 1864. Returning home early on January 11, 1863, he received a certificate of good conduct and was definitively released on November 11, 1864.
