POLICE HAT OF OFFICER OF DRAGONS OF THE LINE, model 1854, Second Empire. 26981

Hat body in madder cloth with dark green piping. These pipings come together on the right side to form a point whose apex reaches the bottom of the hat.
Two side flaps of elliptical shape in dark green cloth bordered on their convex development with a golden braid; these two elliptical shaped pieces are sewn to the body of the hat. H of flaps at the front 14 cm, at the back 14 cm, H in the center on the right flap 8 cm, H in the center on the left flap 9 cm. At the back, these flaps are joined by madder piping.
On the front, in the curvilinear angle drawn by the recess of the two flaps, a bright pomegranate embroidered in gilded silver thread is sewn on a madder sheet (H 6.7 cm, width 3.8 cm). At the front corner of the crown of the cap, a pompom in gilded silver trimmings with tassel and soft fringes called well ropes is attached.
Interior cover entirely in brown waxed calfskin. At its top in the center, on each side is a black lacquered metal hook.
