CARABINIER OFFICER'S BREATHER OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, model 1856, Second Empire. 27146-1
Model breastplate with waist in steel plated with a sheet of brass composed of a breastplate and a backrest.
Breastplate lined with 10 brass nails and lined with a sheet of brass. In the center is fixed a steel glory in the shape of a radiant sun (H 19 cm, width 16 cm) on which is attached an oval badge (H 9.8 cm, width 9 cm) in brass stamped with the imperial eagle on a background shortbread framed with a laurel branch and an oak branch.
Backrest lined with 6 brass nails, lined with a brass plate. The back is garnished at the top with two black patent leather straps. Each strap is fixed at its top by a stamped brass lion's head which holds a double brass chain with intertwined round rings ending with a stamped golden brass lock with a heart-shaped leather tab screwed into the lower part. At the bottom, a black patent leather belt with brass buckles. On each side, the backrest is stamped “DELACHAUSSÉE” and at each shoulder, it is numbered “14” and twice with the number “1”.
A ribbon of the Order of the Legion of Honor was summarily placed on the left shoulder pad.
