DRUM BALL HOLDER OF THE 3rd REGIMENT OF FOOT GRENADIERS OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, REASSIGNED TO THE 46TH LINE INFANTRY REGIMENT REASSIGNED IN 1865, Second Empire. 26868-2
Bleached buffalo harness with stitched edges then black lacquered, width at the bottom 11.5 cm, width at the top 9 cm. In the lower part, two gussets enclose a brass ring 5.4 cm in diameter to which is attached a leather loop with a square brass buckle holding a spring steel carabiner. Baldric garnished with a flaming grenade stamped in brass, H 7 cm, width 5 cm and a rectangular brass plate 8.6 cm high x 8 cm wide on which two tubes decorated with nets for carrying are riveted baguettes. It is hot stamped with the 3rd Guard Foot Grenadier Regiment with imperial crown followed by the inscription "3rd Grs", dated 1861 and registered "64", these assignments are crossed out and it is reassigned to the 46th Infantry Regiment of line “46th of L”, dated 1865 under the number “10”.
