TALPACK of the 9th regiment with pompom of the 3rd regiment, model 1858
Cardboard carcass covered with cotton canvas glued with shellac (1858). Height: 20 cm in front, 22 cm in back. Patent leather cap called bucket or imperial, diameter 14.5 cm. Curled lambskin sleeve in natural black color. The 1858 text specifies that it is separated from the carcass above the forehead by a sheepskin pad: this slight projection serves to preserve sight and prevents the hairs of the muff from entering the eyes, this pad is clearly present on this copy.
The chin strap is made of a strip of varnished calfskin on which 61 intertwined copper rings are sewn (diameter: 2 cm). Worn under the chin, it is attached to the lower edge of the talpack by hooks mounted on oval plates in black lacquered metal. In the raised position, it is attached at the back of the hairstyle near the cap to a simple black lacquered iron hook: the length of the chin strap is 48 cm.
Scarlet half-ellipsoid pompom, decorated with the regimental number “3” in brass. Plumet in the shape of an egret, made of green rooster feathers with a scarlet upper third. Brass tulip at the foot of the plume. Black lacquered iron hook fixed at the top of the rear of the carcass to attach the cord (1858).
Interior leather cap cut into six wolf teeth with brass eyelet (a seventh wolf tooth is cut but is not intended to be attached to the lace allowing the size to be adjusted.
Two white paper labels printed in blue are stuck to the inside of the cap. Printed regimental label “9e de CHASSEURS / N° 908 - 67”, manufacturer’s label “J.F. GOUERY & Cie FAB ts A PARIS / 5p”.

DOLMAN
Entirely in dark green cloth, closing straight at the front with 18 pewter bell buttons stamped with the number “3”. The front is trimmed with 18 black goat hair braids trimmed with three buttons each. The seams and false pockets are trimmed with black goat hair braid piped on each side. Cloth collar of the black braided uniform.
Dark green cloth facings bordered with black goat hair braid forming a point. Interior lining in ecru canvas, registered “1983” dated 4th quarter 1868 with regimental stamp of the 3rd Regiment of chasseur à cheval. Interior waist belt in burgundy calfskin.
Very good condition, some moth holes and repairs, one button missing, all buttons are number "3".

Braided in black wool.

CARTRIDGE OF THE 9TH REGIMEMT, model 1863
Banner in bleached buffalo, width 5.5 cm, with brass buckle made up of an oval ring, a bar and a plate finishing the banner, and a brass button at the front connected to a curb chain in brass finished with a steel pin placed in a buffalo sheath at the back of the banner. In the upper part, a rounded tab in bleached buffalo forming a buttonhole is sewn and is intended to hang on the dolman. Banner registered on its internal side “932” and marked “9th Chass”, stamp of the 9th Chasseur à Cheval.
Cartridge box in strong black patent leather with brass sides, H 9 cm, width at the top 20.3 cm, width at the bottom 20 cm, thickness 5 cm. Under the box, a brass nail is riveted to hang the tab of the tab and at the top of each side is fixed a large brass nail for the passage of the banner. Black patent leather tab hot-stamped on the internal side “9th Chass” (9th chasseur à cheval), registered “932”, dated 1860 “60” and marked “BAUDOUIN FRÈRES”; at the base of the tab is fixed a leather tab attaching to the underside of the box. Dimensions of the tab H 11 cm, width at the top 21 cm, width at the bottom 21.5 cm.
Perfect condition, the brass bar of the banner has an unsoldered angle but is complete.
