FULL DRESS UNIFORM OF COLONEL OF THE GUIDES OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD, model 1857, Second Empire. 27078 (27079/27080)

COLBACK.
Strong leather carcass covered with bearskin, H 20 cm at the front, H 27 cm at the back. Cap diameter 22 cm, covered with a flame in braided madder cloth piped in gilded silver braids forming small knots and ending with a golden trimmings pompom with large twisted fringes called spinach seeds and skirt in twisted curls gilded silver. Length of the flame 39 cm (without the pompom), H of the cord connecting the flame to the pompom 2 cm, H of the pompom 6 cm. On the top of the front of the carcass in the upper part, there is a pocket serving as a feather holder (4 cm from the top of the carcass, 3 cm wide). On each side in the lower part a smooth golden brass boss (H 3 cm, L 2.3 cm) with hook is stapled to hold the chin strap. Chin strap in calfskin covered in black velvet, covered with a curb chain made of intertwined chiseled and gilded brass rings.
Inner cap in soft black waxed leather cut into eight wolf teeth, carcass and crown lined in madder silk.
Oval-shaped wooden pompom lined with golden yellow silk and covered with a large-grained cord in gold trimmings (H 6.8 cm, L 4.5 cm, thickness 3 cm) at the back lined iron stem .
White friezed rooster feather plume with longer upper feathers and black feathers at its base, mounted on a rib reinforced with a double-folded iron rod. Total H 45 cm, apparent H of feathers 30 cm including 6 cm of longer feathers, apparent H of black feathers 13 cm. Tulip pompom in golden brass.
Very good state.

DOLMAN.
Dolman model of the regulations of June 9, 1853 specified by the description of June 15, 1857, entirely in dark green cloth, closing straight at the front by means of 18 bell buttons in smooth gilded brass. The front is trimmed with 18 braids of gilded silver trimmings with five rows of buttons. The back is decorated at the top with a Hungarian knot in gilded silver piping. The seams and false pockets are trimmed on each side with three gilded silver piping braids. Collar in cloth of the uniform laced with gilded silver trimmings with double braid. Madder cloth facings edged with five gilded silver trimmings. Gray canvas interior lining. Interior waist belt in burgundy morocco.
Very good condition, very slight oxidation of the trimmings, one oxidized button, a few accidents repaired mainly on the right sleeve, gold piping at the bottom of the dolman changed later.

CURB CHAIN FOR CHÂTELAINE WATCH.
In gilded metal, with medal with the image of a woman.

GIBERNE.
Banner in calfskin covered in green velvet, width 5.5 cm, covered on its exterior side with a braid of the same width in silver trimmings with three dark green silk borders. This banner is completed with five silver metal trimmings, a rectangular buckle chiselled with laurel leaves, a bar-shaped loop chiselled with laurel leaves, a shield-shaped plaque bordered with laurel leaves and finishing the banner on the front part, as well as an oval radiant sun decorated in its center with an uncrowned imperial eagle in gilded brass surmounted by the large crown of the Guides, these last two elements are linked together by means of three curb chains.
Wooden box covered in dark green waxed morocco lined with green velvet with the two sides in gilded brass framed by a strip chiseled with laurel leaves receiving at the top a gilded brass ring for attaching the banner. H of box 6.5 cm, maximum width. 14.5 cm, minimum width 13.2 cm. The underside of the box is lined with a protruding golden brass nail for fixing the tab.
Rectangular, slightly trapezoidal shaped tab, H 9 cm, width at the top 16 cm, width at the bottom 16.7 cm, in leather lined with green waxed morocco, covered with a gilded brass plate bordered by a brass rod gilded, width 8 mm, stamped in relief with branches of oak leaves, flowers and corollas of foliage. The center is decorated with a radiant silver metal sun. Two ornaments in gilded brass are stapled to this sun: a horizontally striated “N” topped with the imperial crown of the Guides.
Very good condition, exposed and rubbed rear velvet, slight oxidation of the trimmings of the banner, fixing tab of the tab broken and partly missing.
