POLICE HAT, model 1860.
In dark green cloth, madder piping, white braid, crest embroidered in white thread with a hunting horn and pomegranate. Dark green pompom.
Hat body in dark green cloth with madder wool cord piping. These pipings come together on the right side to form a point whose apex reaches the bottom of the hat. Two side flaps of elliptical shape, in dark green cloth, bordered on their convex development with a braid and piping in white cloth; they are sewn to the bottom of the cap and connected together at each end by a seam, folding down as desired. Its two flaps at the top in the middle attach to the hat using a ring and a black lacquered metal hook. On the front, in the curvilinear angle drawn by the recess of the two flaps, a bursting grenade is sewn into a hunting horn embroidered in madder wool threads (H 5 cm, width 4 cm). At the front corner of the peak of the cap, a dark green woolen tassel is attached.
Inner cap entirely in black waxed sheepskin.
H of the right flap: 7 cm, H of the left flap: 9 cm, total H 12.5 cm.
Good condition, some accidents and repairs to the green cloth, piping moth-eaten in places, interior cover with two small losses of leather at the front and back.
DOLMAN having belonged to François PLATEL.
Dolman model 1857, entirely in dark green cloth, closing straight at the front with 18 pewter bell buttons stamped with the crowned imperial eagle. The front is trimmed with 18 braids of white wool with five rows of buttons. The back is decorated at the top with a Hungarian knot in white piping. The seams and false pockets are trimmed on each side with white piped braid. Cloth collar of the white braided uniform. Madder cloth facings edged with a white wool braid forming a point. Interior lining in ecru canvas bearing the ink stamps of the regiment: imperial crown, followed by the inscription "Ch. de la G", dated 2nd quarter 1862, registered "2463". Interior waist belt in ocher morocco.

Very good condition, a few moth holes, damaged interior belt with repairs.

BIOGRAPHY :
François PLATEL born September 15, 1839, originally from the commune of Saint-Clair in the department of Isère, farmer. Incorporated into the 7th regiment of Hunters on horseback on May 30, 1852. Passed to the Hunters on horseback regiment of the Imperial Guard on May 31, 1859.
The regiment was sent to Africa from January 4, 1859 to May 16, then to Italy from May 17, 1859 to September 1.
He received the Italian Campaign medal.
