Gilded bronze frame, three-branched guard forming an openwork shell decorated with laurel branches with a marine anchor placed on a bundle of flags in its center. Long-tailed cap decorated with a fleuron and laurel branches. Brass filigree horn handle. Straight blade with gutters and hollow sides, rounded counter-edging, rush back, length 80.4 cm; back engraved “Manufre d’Armes de Chat Mai 1882 = O d’infire de Marine Mle 1856”. Leather tie. Black patent leather scabbard with three gilded bronze fittings.
