DEPARTMENTAL GENDARMERIE OFFICER'S BELT PLATE, model 1854, Second Empire. 28157

In gilded bronze, rectangular in shape with cut corners, H 7.6 cm, width 9.7 cm with its curvature. It is decorated in its center with an uncrowned imperial eagle holding the sparkling spindle of Jupiter in its claws, surmounted by the inscription “DEPARTMENTAL GENDARMERIE”. In the lower part, a ribbon bears the inscription “SURETE PUBLIC”. On the back, it is complete with its trigger guard and its hook as well as its two barbs, it is lined with a green waxed sheepskin.
