Ornate brass hilt. Shell guard adorned with oak and laurel branches crossing over a bundle of four flags. Cap with a long tail decorated with foliage. Horn handle. Straight blade with grooves and central fuller, length 75.6 cm, signed "A Chassepot Entrepeur à Châtellerault".

Fair condition, blade with usual oxidation, minor dents and losses to the grip, without scabbard.
NOTE:
The Chasseurs de Vincennes were an experimental formation created in 1837. They took the name Chasseurs d'Orléans in 1842.
