IRON SWORD WITH MULTI-BRANCH GUARD CALLED “RAPIER”, 16th century. 25876
Iron frame. Multi-branched guard composed of a joining arch with two branches joining the guard with two rings, a donkey step framing the ricasso, three “strands” of counter-guard and two quillons inflected towards the tip of the blade . Strong smooth ovoid pommel. Ebony torso rocket, iron ferrules. Blade with throat on the first 20 centimeters then double-edged and median edge up to the tip, it bears the inscription “.X.X.L.A.M.B.E.R.T.E.N.C.O.X.X” engraved hollow in the two grooves.
