Silver star, with five double rays with dappled points, enameled in white, framed by a branch of oak and laurel leaves enameled in light green. Obverse center in gold representing the effigy of the Republic in head to sinister profile, bordered by a blue enamel scroll with the inscription in gold letters “FRENCH REPUBLIC 1870”. Center reverse presenting two crossed tricolor enameled flags bordered by a blue listel bearing the inscription “HONOR AND HOMELAND”.
Bail in the shape of a branch of laurel and green enameled oak leaves, independent and topped with a small ball through which the suspension ring passes.
Scarlet silk ribbon with rosette.
Total H with bail 6.1 cm, diameter 4.23 cm.
