Round in shape, in silver, engraving by Barre, representing on the obverse the effigy of the Emperor crowned with laurel, framed by the legend “NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR” and bordered by a laurel wreath. On the reverse, inscription “ITALY CAMPAIGN - 1859” framing the name of the battles of “MONTEBELLO, PALESTRO, TURBIGO, MAGENTA, MARIGNAN, SOLFERINO”. Diameter 3 cm. Hallmarked bail.

Silk ribbon alternating 6 red vertical stripes of 4 mm and 5 white vertical stripes of 2 mm, it is bordered with a 1 mm white border. Width 3.6 cm.
