Brass frame with side branch and narrow quillon top. Ruffled crown with short tail decorated with laurel branches. Wooden handle covered in black waxed calfskin and copper filigree.
Curved blade with hollow sides, engraved and gilded on its first half: on its front face, a cartridge bears the inscription “NATIONAL GUARD” with a crown of laurel leaves at the bottom and a base engraved with “EQUALITE” at the top. of the Gallic rooster against a background of a bundle of flags. It is signed near the heel, “Coulaux Frères” in a cartouche, all on a blue background. Rear side similarly decorated with the inscription “PUBLIC ORDER”, the box supporting the rooster is engraved “LIBERTE”, on the heel the cartridge is signed “à Klingenthal”. Length 75.5 cm, back with rush marked “1830”. Scarlet cloth tie.
Black patent leather scabbard with two brass fittings decorated with lines. Chaplet with button for wearing on the belt.

Good condition, discolored brass parts, blade in new condition having retained all its colors, varnish of the scabbard rubbed on the edges.
