LARGE SILVER CROSS PLATE OF THE ORDER OF THE LEGION OF HONOR BY HALLEY, Second Empire. 28065
Large silver cross with branches chiseled with diamond points and pierced and center in three parts representing an uncrowned imperial eagle with scroll bearing the inscription “HONOR AND HOMELAND”. Back with side hook pin and double hook. Plaque signed on the back “HALLEY Ft D’ORDRES ÷ GALeie VALOIS PALAIS ROYAL PARIS”. Diameter 7.8 cm. Punched pin.
Presented in its octagonal-shaped case, covered in black shagreen, lined with blue velvet and white silk. Silk marked in gold with the manufacturer's name. On the back is stuck a paper handwritten in pencil “Monsieur Colonel Verly, Commander of the Corps of the Hundred Guards”. This is not the decoration of Colonel Verly, but undoubtedly a decoration which was entrusted to him for a third person.
